Prezi Critical Analysis

            Prezi is a presenting software. It allows you to present your topics with efficiency and organization.

            Prezi also you to collaborate you work simultaneously with other users. This is beneficial to users because if you are working with a partner, then you can share and fix each others work.

            Prezi also allows you to import music and sounds to emphasize your presentation, and make things stand out. Also, videos and Youtube videos can be imported into your presentation. This is also beneficial because this allows you to show videos that relate to your presentation, and sounds can put emphasis on key points or on you presentation in general.

            Prezi also allows you to pick themes in order to customize your presentation. Templates of your choice can also be chosen in order to make the presentation more personal and look better with different types of formats.

            Prezi has a free version and priced versions. The free version is open to the public, but just doesn’t have all of the benefits as the paid for versions.

            Prezi is worth checking out because it’s really cool software allows you to do cool things. You can customize your presentation, import media and make your presentation look neater and more organized.

Social Media Site: Google Plus

            Google Plus is a social media site that Google has made. Google allows you to put your Google Plus friends in “circles.” Google plus allows you to stay connected with your friends and what’s going on. It’s a pretty new social media site that was just released.

Google Plus has some benefits from a business perspective. In Google Plus you can make circles, which is just a way to organize your friends. For businesses, they can make a business circle with just colleagues inside of it. This way you can keep your business issues, just inside your business circle. This keeps other friends out of this circle so they don’t need to see your business conversations that don’t pertain to them.  A downside to this is that not everyone of your colleagues might not have Google Plus so they can either get it or be outside the loop. Also, Google Plus may be confusing to know how to use, so the effectiveness of circles might decrease.

           

Socially, Google Plus is a great social media site. Users can categorize their “friends” into different groups. For example; family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. This way, you can keep track of your friends and who can see your statuses, photos and posts. Google Plus allows you to interact with all of your friends by seeing and commenting and videos and photos, etc. Google Plus in similar to Facebook, with the posts and comments. Friends can stay connected no mater where they are through Google Plus. A downside is that kids get carried away with what they say and post, which could get them in trouble.

            For entertainment, Google Plus is similar to Twitter. Google Plus allows you to follow, but have a separate circle for all of your favorite celebrities, actors and famous people. This allows people to see what’s going on when celebrities post statuses, photos and videos. A downside is that people don’t use Google Plus as much as Twitter or Facebook so there is a smaller audience. 

            For news, Google Plus kids can discuss what is happening in their community and the world, which can spread the issue throughout all of Google Plus. Also, people can make circles with the news to just follow what is occurring. A downside is that not as much people use Google Plus, especially for news, so the news circle won’t notify a lot of people.

            Google Plus can also be used for recreational purposes. Users can specifically make circles for actors, comedian, or athletes to keep everything organized. This way, users can follow what’s occurring in the famous people’s lives and stay updated. A downside is that the users don’t directly interact with the celebrities.

            Google Plus can be abused, just like all the other social media sites. If you look back at my Twitter and Facebook abuses, the same applies to Google Plus. There could be serious repercussions too.

Facebook Analysis

Facebook is a social media site, where you register, create a profile, add other users and chat with people. Users can browse other’s photos, videos and walls, update their profile and make statuses. Facebook was made to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones over the internet.

           

Facebook is used by businesses to spread the word about their business. Businesses can have fan pages, so users can like their businesses and write on their walls. Users can read the businesses statuses, and posts to find out about new products and upcoming events. Businesses can also post advertisements on the side of the web page to promote themselves. However a downside is that some businesses might have an audience that doesn’t use Facebook, like an older generation.

           

Facebook is used for social purposes as well. People can connect with past classmates, and even meet future roommates they will bunk with in college. Requests can be made to other users, so you can access their photos, wall posts and videos. Friends can chat and comment on statuses, photos and videos to share their mind. A downside to the social side is that people can stalk you and find your information if it isn’t safely blocked.

           

Facebook can also be used for entertainment too. Users can play games, trivia and take surveys if they want. There are virtual simulation games, like Farmville, when time needs to be invested into the game. Users can also like celebrities, bands and other stars to see their statuses and comment on their profiles. A downside to this is that when you play certain games, they have the ability to send requests to other friends to play and post statuses on your profile about the game.

           

Facebook is also used for news aspects too. Groups on Facebook can be made in order to spread the word about some charities, and good causes; like the Invisible Children group. Also, events can be made and people can attend or not attend (depending on the user) to go to a fundraiser or another event.

           

For recreational purposes users can like songs, bands, games, movies and tons more. By hitting like, the users can see updates, posts, and upcoming movies and shows. A downside is that there could be spoiler alerts.

There are downsides to these aspects of Facebook. For the business, they could keep sending invites to your profile. For social, people can stalk you and find out your information. For entertainment, games can post statuses whenever they feel and send invites. For news, you can keep sending out invites and harass people. For recreational purposes, you can get spam from the games you play.

Twitter Critical Analysis

            Twitter is a social media site that connects users through a network of real time stories, ideas and opinions. In Twitter, you can share photos, videos and conversations. You can “tweet” your opinion, interests and ideas and have people comment and discuss the topic. Also, Twitter is used for following people, where you can see and comment on their tweets, however, you never have to tweet at all if you don’t want to. Twitter can be used for many purposes besides social media purposes.

            Twitter can be used for business purposes as well. Twitter can connect the businesses to their customers and vice versa. By tweeting, posting videos or photos, a business can quickly and easily show their customers new products. Relationships can be built stronger by using Twitter to communicate between the customers and businesses. Twitter is also bad for businesses too. The audience a business might want to reach might not be invested in social media, so Twitter isn’t a good way to connect businesses with their customers. Also, since it’s done over the Internet, there is a little bit of a lag between businesses and customers. Over the phone, of in person is way quicker and you can communicate more efficiently. Twitter provides good purposes and applications for businesses and it has some drawbacks to the businesses as well.

            Twitter is mainly used for social purposes. People can connect with one another from all around the world by tweeting and following. People are able to discuss topics and interests and just a conversation. Photos and videos are also shared between users. Twitter connects people from around the world and people down the street. Twitter helps engage people within their community and gives them a voice. The negative side to the social part of Twitter is that anyone can reach and comment on your tweets.

            Twitter also provides entertainment purposes. It allows entertainers to send out tweets that will promote what they are doing, and what might appeal to some people on this website. The downside is that entertainers can’t reach every audience member because not everyone has a Twitter.  

            Twitter also has news purposes to it too. People can tweet about new things and headlines that are taking place in real time. This allows people to stay informed about what’s happening in their community and globally.

            Purposes for recreational uses are used on Twitter as well. This allows you to follow certain businesses that you like. People can follow other people, celebrities and companies on their own time to stay informed in what’s going on. The downside is that there aren’t much recreational purposes besides following your friends.

            These advantages on Twitter can be abused too. Socially, you can stalk people if you get to attached and obsessed. In the business perspective, something you might tweet can get you in trouble at work if it’s about the business. For entertainment, they could continuously send out information over and over to promote themselves. For news, some topics that come up could be offensive to some people. As consequences, you can get in trouble outside the website.
